Shift Manager - Casino Security

Business Unit:  Shared Services
Division:  Security and Safety

I. BASIC PURPOSE / JOB BRIEF:

The Casino Security Shift Manager supervises the daily operations of the security team during their assigned shift, ensuring the safety of guests, employees, and property. The role enforces compliance with regulatory requirements, manages security incidents, and ensures effective communication and coordination within the security team and other departments. This role requires leadership, strategic thinking, and crisis management to ensure the casino's security operations run smoothly and efficiently.

II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Manage, motivate, and lead Supervisors and Security Officers through visible leadership, guidance, and performance oversight.
  • Allocate and coordinate security personnel to ensure shift coverage and operational requirements are met.
  • Oversee and respond promptly to all security incidents, including theft, disturbances, emergencies, and other critical situations, ensuring proper assessment, documentation, and reporting.
  • Conduct and review incident investigations, ensuring findings and corrective actions are properly documented.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with established security policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with other departments to ensure smooth and secure casino operations.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and post-incident debriefings, ensuring key information is communicated to all team members.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the casino floor, addressing guest concerns, promoting safety, and upholding excellent customer service standards.
  • Oversee the secure handling and escort of gaming transactions, including chips, cards, and cash movements.
  • Manage administrative duties such as scheduling, time and attendance review, report submission, and resource allocation.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate the performance of Security personnel, providing constructive feedback and fostering professional growth and succession readiness.

III. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A degree in Criminology, Security Management, or a related field is an advantage.

 

 

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 5 years of experience in casino security or a related security management role.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team of casino security officers.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, particularly in high-stress situations.
