Officer - Hotel Security

Business Unit:  Shared Services
Division:  Security and Safety

I. BASIC PURPOSE / JOB BRIEF:

The Officer - Hotel Security is responsible for safeguarding guests, personnel, and assets within the property. This includes monitoring assigned areas, coordinating with the Security Control Room, protecting valuable materials, and ensuring the secure transport of assets. The role also requires delivering exceptional customer service and promptly reporting any security-related incidents or concerns.

II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Maintain the safety and security of premises, guests, and personnel within assigned roving sectors or static posts.
  • Safeguard all confidential information, ensuring it is not improperly disclosed or misused.
  • Escort and transport valuables (e.g., cash, lost and found items) securely during transfers and transactions within the property.
  • Manage conflicts and incidents, promptly informing the Security Supervisor and escorting individuals from the premises when necessary.
  • Serve as a first responder during medical emergencies or other urgent situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

III. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirement:

  • At least college-level education or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
  • A bachelor’s degree is an advantage.

 

Experience Requirement:

  • Prior experience in hotel security or a related field is an asset.
  • A background in military service, law enforcement, or other security-related fields is an advantage.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Able to maintain authority and discipline while promoting teamwork, ensuring a safe environment, and responding quickly to security-related situations
  • Capable of using computer systems for report writing.
  • Knowledgeable about security protocols, including emergency response procedures.
  • Familiar with radios, two-way communication devices, and other tools to report incidents and coordinate responses.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • License to Exercise Security Profession (LESP): Must possess a valid Security Officer License.
  • Integrity and Professionalism: High ethical standards and professional behavior in all interactions.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Able to adapt to changing security situations or priorities with ease.
  • Report Writing Skills: Able to write clear, concise, and accurate reports in English.
  • Proficiency in English: Capable of communicating effectively in both spoken and written English.
