Hygiene Officer
I. BASIC PURPOSE / JOB BRIEF:
The Hygiene Officer monitors the implementation of sanitation and hygiene standards to ensure all food served to guests and employees are free of microbiological, chemical and physical contamination and all work areas conform to the established OMFSMS Standards and for regulatory compliance.
Monitoring activities include but not limited to: verification of compliance of different food and beverage handling and storage areas through food safety audits, internal and external laboratory testing, trainings, etc.
II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assists in the enforcement of hygiene and sanitation procedures and food safety standards, ensuring compliance of all food-handling and preparation areas.
- Conducts regular inspections and audits in food preparation areas to identify risks, verify adherence to hygiene standards, and implement corrective measures when necessary.
- Abides by the established Pest Management Program, monitor pest control reports and ensure that any sightings are reported and addressed immediately to avoid infestations in food-handling areas.
- Complies with established records management system and maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and food safety tests, ensuring they are securely filed for future reference and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct hygiene and food safety audits of vendors and suppliers to verify compliance with safety requirements and ensure the quality of food products received.
- Handles tasks related to data gathering activities for calorie count and menu allergen review verification
- Complies with set departmental goals, targets and performance standards
- Provide clerical and administrative support by managing hygiene-related documentation, scheduling inspections, and coordinating food safety activities.
- May take on additional responsibilities related to food safety and sanitation as required by the management
III. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Educational Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Technology, Nutrition, or any related Food Science field.
Experience Requirement:
- At least 6 months of experience or training as a Hygienist or a similar quality assurance rolewithin a 5-star hotel, integrated resort, or food manufacturing firm.
- Specialist in a food manufacturing firm
Skills and Attributes:
- Knowledge of food safety management systems and standards, basic food safety auditing skills.
- Knowledge of microbiological testing and laboratory analysis
Other Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluent in oral and written English and Filipino language
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
