Engineer - Project Management

Business Unit:  Shared Services
Division:  Facility Management

I. BASIC PURPOSE / JOB BRIEF:

He / She is responsible of producing a complete, accurate, biddable, and buildable set of plans for all the structures in a project. He also help the managers to secure the maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, auxiliary systems, kitchen equipment etc., loose and fixed furniture, lighting, interior design finishes, architectural internal and external finishes, structure, water proofing etc. to approved standards, procedures and time frame He also helps in completing engineering projects by organizing and controlling projects elements.

II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

 

Planning

    •  
  • Reviews all preliminary reports including advance planning studies for the project. Proper shoulder widths, traffic and falseworks clearances, approach slab status and adequate stream flow and scour provisions must be verified prior to the developing the General Plan. 
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates
  • Investigates statement reports which appear uneconomical or inconsistent with policies.
  • Reviews locations of existing utilities for possible conflict and relocation
     

 

Project Control / Reports

    •  
  • Assist management for reviewing entire project for continuity and completeness.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.

Operations

 

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules,  and regulations.
  • Maintains project data base by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.

 

Personnel                  

    •  
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Supervise project staff. May delegate supervision for portion of work. 

III. JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a Registered/License Holder of this discipline. With Master's degree (advantage but not required).

 

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 3 to 5 years previous experience – construction, casino or hotel maintenance department supervisory or management experience is an advantage but not required.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Computer literate in MS Office applications.
  • Good telephone manner and customer service focus.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in civil engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee supervision and personnel management.
  • He must be flexible and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.  He or she should be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects, and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work on overtime when needed. Good health, physically fit and excellence in personal grooming and presentation.
